Another avoidable accident............

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Another avoidable accident............

Post by BTBexpat »

Seems Mekong Express are racking up quite a tally this year so far. How long until the government eradicate right hand drive vehicles....
Personally I always take taxi's, far safer but not everyone has the funds to do so. A tragic waste of life.

No mention of the fuckwit driver...why?

Maybe he survived and had it away on his toes....? Doubtful though looking at the wreck.

It's strange that the driver is not mentioned, normally they are.

Friends in high places perhaps. Seems like he was equally at fault on this occasion.

When I opened that link! My words where "Fucking Hell".
They probably never recognised what would be left of the driver.

Which brings me to this: Can't these trucks and cars be modified so that the steering wheels are on the left side? I mean, why not? Any good mechanic should be able to do it and the parts ARE available, so...

I don't think it's the positioning of the steering wheel that makes much difference, plenty of left-hand drive artics on British roads and I have happily whizzed around Europe in my RHD Astra. You've no idea how roadworthy these vehicles are, truck had no number plate so one would assume it had not even been bribed through a worthiness test, those minibus drives drive like maniacs, the left indicator permanently on, has either of them bothered to pass a test? All these things.

Years ago there used to be shops in TK specialising in it.
