Fake beer destroyed

"Authorities destroyed nearly 1,000 boxes of counterfeit beer yesterday following earlier raids sparked by a complaint filed by the sole distributor of the brand name beer.

Attwood Import Export Company holds the sole rights to import and distribute Budweiser and Corona beers in the country.

The company filed a complaint to the Interior Ministry’s Anti-Economic Crime Department earlier this month, leading to police raids on two locations in Phnom Penh and one in Preah Sihanouk province.

Long Sreng, deputy chief of the department, said 915 boxes of beer were destroyed at dumpsite located in Dangkoa district’s Chhoeung Ek commune, including 200 boxes of Corona.

“Those beers violated copyrights,” he said. “The beer we destroyed was imported from an unspecific manufacturer in China.”

“We didn’t arrest anyone because the plaintiff only requested compensation,” Mr Sreng added.

Almost broke in to tears when I saw the headline. Fake or not, what a waste of perfectly good beer I thought. Then I saw it was just Bud and Corona........

this its the shit that rots your guts and gives you DT's, similar to all generic Khmer alcohol, ganzberg,crown,cheers blue,cambodia,angkor,anchor.

beer regulations must be nil in KoW to let this on the market it the first place.

all generic beer Khmer/thai is pretty much borderline fake beer , horrid chemical ridden crap should be illegal......

tiger light is nice and possibly the best beer in SEA

hotdigr drinks xxxx beer its not like he knows good beer anyway, but hanno being from dermany should know Khmer beer its crap.

Loads of Viet beers way better than anything Cambodian, plus some very good Chinese beers.

Only decent locally made beer was Klang, imo, and that's disappearing quickly.

yes it does indicate knowledge,

heres a breakdown

Khmer leo beer- putrid, horrid chemical tasting headache beer.

Cambodia beer-cheap watery horrid cat urine that they have to give free speakers and free cans just to sell it at 2000 riel.

anchor- its OK but must be ice cold and consumed in 1 or 2 minutes.

Angkor- another horrid beer tomato,metalic and chemical aftertaste , gives the runs and a horrid hangover.

ganzber- don't go there unless you like pounding headache and being in able to eat for days.

cheer blue- I'm sure this beer is the worst of the lot.

klang- strong beer that gives a chronic headache from 3 or 4 cans .


Never ever mix these beers on a bender or you will be suffering for the next 24-36 hours
