Thieves Nabbed After Snatching Foreigner's Backpack

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On July 1, 2023, the Criminal Police Department reported a case of a foreign national's backpack being snatched at the corner of Street 105 and Street 310 in Sangkat Boeung Keng II, Khan Boeung Keng Kang. The department investigated and arrested two suspects who have been sent to court.

The Inspector General of Boeung Keng Kang Police conducted a search and investigation on 29 June 2023, and at 15:26 on National Road No. 1, Sangkat Chbar Ampov II, they arrested two suspects with a Suzuki motorcycle:
1. Name: Roeun Saray, alias Rai, male, 25 years old
2. Name: Eng David, alias Rom, male, 17 years old


The two youths admitted that they did this robbery, and have been involved in two other snatching cases in the same area.
- The first was on 10 June 2023, at 12:15, when a backpack belonging to a foreigner was stolen at the corner of Street 105 and Street 310 in Khan Boeung Keng Kang, Phnom Penh.
-The second was on 22 June 22, 2023, at 14:15, when the suspects tried and failed to steal a mobile phone at the corner of Street 95 and Street 330 in Khan Boeung Keng Kang, from a victim who was riding in a tuktuk .


The materials confiscated include a white Suzuki Kinetic motorcycle made in 2023 with license plate number Phnom Penh 1JW-0681. Currently, the police department is building a case to send to the Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.
