Forestry official killed, 3 injured in attack by soldiers

Soldiers held over fatal shooting
Four soldiers were arrested yesterday over a shooting at a forestry administration office in which one man died and three were seriously injured. A woman working as a cook for the soldiers was also detained.
Kampong Chhnang provincial police chief Loch Vannara said that on Tuesday at about 7.30 pm, a group of unidentified men with AK-47 rifles fired ten rounds at military, military police and forestry officers guarding Kraing Skear Forestry Administration office.
Four people were wounded, one of whom died later in hospital.
“After the shooting, the gunmen fled,” Mr Vannara said.
He said the suspects were being questioned by provincial police and military police and declined to comment further.
Seng Vuthy of the military police said there had been a prior conflict between the suspects and the victims.
The dead man was named as forestry administration officer Soeng Hath, who was shot in the chest.
Provincial military police officer Ouk Nam was shot on his right leg and seriously injured.
