Army cadet dies in parachute accident
An army cadet who was a student at the Army Institute died on Friday during parachute training in Kampong Speu province, an official said.

National Defense Ministry spokesman General Chhum Socheat said the cadet plunged to the ground and died during a training jump from a helicopter.
“The reason he died is that the parachute failed to open,” Gen. Socheat said, and asked that the cadet’s name could not be revealed until relatives had been contacted.

He added that the ministry will investigate the causes behind the death.
