Good news indeed- gives them a chance to maintain continuity to the next election.

Re: CNRP Agrees to Take Seats in Parliament
This is probably the best news out of all of it:
“Based on the spirit of the agreement [made in a meeting] on September 16, 2013, both parties have agreed to the reformation of the National Election Committee [NEC] . . . membership now has to be appointed by the National Assembly with the majority vote of the whole parliament.â€
The NEC will comprise nine members, four from each main party and one independent representative to be determined, the statement continues.
“Four will be from the ruling party, four have to be selected from the other party sitting in the National Assembly . . . the other one has to be selected based on agreement between the two parties.â€

^ You still haven't got it figured out. That will still end up with a majority of 5 to 4 in the ruling parties favor. (Am I jaded, or just a realist? Defeatist, perhaps? Just like many rural folk.)

Yeah, but a majority is a lot different than a full set one way or the other. With a majority at least election fraud will have to be curbed to some degree because they can't just sit around the office bragging about it.Username Taken wrote:^ You still haven't got it figured out. Especially if you consider how defections have been known to happen in past elections to the oppositions side... having a guy or two who are about to defect could swing things instead of needing to recruit over 5 of them.
