Phnom Penh, Cambodia: 38 year old Jonathan James Briercliffe from Runnymede (Surrey, England) was found dead by his ex-wife in his BKK1 apartment collapsed over his sofa in a pool of blood, which police have said is likely the result of a heart attack, although they are still investigating.

Jonathan Briercliffe's father in England grew worried when he called his son, but he did not answer, so he called his daughter-in-law, Ana Kitic who lives in the same building as Mr Briercliffe, and asked her to check on him.

She went to his room on another floor and found him dead in a pool of blood and called the authorities.

Ana Kitic made a statement to police and while they have said it appears to be a heart attack, they are still investigating the case.

According to a birth certificate from Thailand, Ana Kitic and Jonathan Briercliffe have a 4 year old daughter, which he tragically leaves behind.

Jonathan Briercliffe is a British expatriate who has been the Managing Director of Newbridge Networks in Phnom Penh since 2015, and before that a Senior Business Coordinator at Infinity Financial Solutions in Phnom Penh.

May he rest in peace.

Why is there a question mark at the end of your sentence, or are you replying to a post that someone already deleted?

He was dead at least a few days and fluids often start oozing from the body during decomposition.

His ex-wife has reached out to CEO, and while she's grieving, she clarified a few things.

First of all, she hopes everyone can remember that it's Christmas, Jonathan Briercliffe's favorite holiday, and that this will be the first Christmas her daughter has without him.

*Both she and the embassy were told by the Cambodian police that no images would be leaked to the media.

*The image that did leak was taken about a day after she found his body, and he did not die in a pool of blood. His body was left in that room long after it was discovered without any aircon on.

*Jonathan Briercliffe died from a heart attack, he had a "heart condition" and was due to have an operation very soon.

*He was found in the afternoon on December 23 and she spent 24 hours being investigated/interrogated by the police over his death.

*His family back home have been informed, but not his daughter, or his friends back home.

*She feels very violated by the way the police did the investigation, with 20 officers running around her house and his, looking at everything and even one officer riding her daughter's bicycle around the house.

Again, condolences to his friends and family, but most importantly to her and his daughter. :(

That should put a lid on the speculation. After the shock of the death, the forums. Not to mention the attitude of the cops.
Condolences to those who knew the deceased, especially his ex-wife and daughter.

Appalling doesn't even begin to cover this.

Condolences to his family.

I'm going to assume he was ringing the bell too.
