Two different versions of the shooting are reported in the EL press this morning. According to the Phnom Penh Post, the shooting was carried out by one person, and it occurred when a disgruntled customer returned to the club with a gun and fired at the entrance soon after closing time. The Khmer Times version is that when a group of men were thrown out for fighting, one of them shot up the club on the way out.
Whatever happened, it certainly happened at the Epic Club, despite their press release.
Guard ‘blinded’ in club shooting
Phnom Penh police are hunting a still-unidentified suspect in a capital nightclub shooting in the early hours of Monday morning that saw one security guard wounded by a bullet to the eye.
The shooter pulled up on a motorbike outside Epic Club in Chamkarmon district and fired a number of shots, two of which hit a security guard, Tonle Bassac commune police chief Sok Sam Uot said.
A fellow Epic Club security guard, who declined to give his name, said nine shots were fired at the club’s entrance at about 3am, as staff members were leaving the venue.
He said the shooter had gotten into a verbal argument with other revellers at the club, a glass was broken and the shooter left the venue before returning with a gun. “The victim’s wife told me that his eye was blinded because of the bullet, while his right thighbone might be shattered,” the security guard said...

Guard Loses an Eye in Nightclub Shooting
District police officer Ly Seng said that at 1am, five people rode three motorbikes to the club, where they became drunk.
They then started arguing with five or six others drinking in the club.
Customers fled as the two parties began throwing glasses at each other before club security guards intervened to break up the fight.
“But after they were stopped from throwing the glasses at each other and when the suspect group left the club, one of them fired about 10 bullets at the club, causing a security guard to be seriously wounded in his right leg and right eye,” Mr. Seng said.
“After firing at the club, they rode their motorbikes and managed to flee.”
