Five suspected drug traffickers were convicted by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday and sentenced to between four and five years in prison for their involvement in selling drugs in Phnom Penh’s Phum Trapaing village.

Judge Ros Piseth told the court ...
“The court orders the confiscated drugs seized and any other related materials which were seized from the five accused be destroyed,” he said.
“The court orders [police] to confiscate the money, guns, bullets, cars and motorbikes that were owned by the five accused and sell them for the state budget.”

The five were arrested by municipal military police in Phnom Penh on the morning of April 27. During the raid, police seized 206 methamphetamine tablets, six pistols and one AK-47, 66 bullets, two cars, three motorbikes and $4,000 along with drug-related materials.

Some questioned why the police seized so few drugs from alleged trafficking kingpins, but Brig. Gen. Sopheap claimed it was because officers flushed the drugs down the toilet once they were inside the villa.

once upon a time I met this real cute little jungle girl in Peru. As confidence was built, she told me about a party she had been invited to. She was given a key to enter the appartment in order to prep the place, before a group of European engineers would come home to celebrate. On the dinner table sat a good sized glass bowl of white powder, which she claimed to have mistaken for leftover flour, dumped the contents into the toilet, cleaned the bowl and orderly put it into the cupboard. Engineers arrived, saw what happened and went ballistic. According to them the party was ruined and the girl was told. Seeing this article, I now wonder how well I actually did know her. After all her dad ran a small coke farm deep in the amazon jungle. She used to help out there as kid before coming to the capitol for work. (Telecommunication Company, not bar)
One gram uncut, straight from the farm was US 1.25 at that time, cheaper than a large bottle of local beer.
