Soldier Hunted for ‘Sorcerer’ Shooting
Military police in Kampong Cham province are hunting for army captain Kim Sokkong over allegations he shot and critically injured a 57-year-old farmer he claimed was a sorcerer who had bewitched his wife.
The shooting took place at about 8:30pm on Monday at the house of victim Dim Kimhoan in Stung Trang district’s Bek Anglong village, where the suspect also lives, provincial military police officer Colonel Seng Sothy told Khmer Times.
He said that on the night of the shooting, provincial military engineering officer Mr. Sokkong rode his motorbike to Ms. Kimhoan’s house and started shouting at her, calling her a sorcerer and blaming her for the fact his wife was ill, which she repeatedly denied.
“He then withdrew his the K-59 pistol from his belt and fired one bullet at the victim, causing her to be seriously wounded in her left thigh,” he said...
