By Prashanth Parameswaran

The U.S. and Cambodian navies will conduct joint military exercises next week, a Cambodian official confirmed October 26.

This year, the drill, Dina said, would include live-fire exercises using Cambodian vessels and cover counterterrorism, hostage rescue, natural disaster response, medical treatment and ship maintenance. It would also involve crew from the U.S. naval ship Millinocket, which he said was due to dock at Sihanoukville on October 30...

Wow! I would love to see the USS Millinocket at speed (43 knots, 49mph) I don't much care for the Military Sealift Command though. I was going to take a 90 day job on one of their ships until I talked to guys who had worked for them. I was on a 880ft bomb ship though for 90 days that was a civilian part of the MSC and the MSC officials were cheap and the food stores they supplied to the ship was second rate. We were rebuilding the ships main propulsion (boilers) on an island in the Indian ocean and depended on our diesel auxiliary power plant for power and aircon (100 degrees outside everyday) MSC forgot to send a small ship to us with diesel fuel oil and we had no power and this on a 800ft bomb ship with containers full of bomb fuses that needed to be refrigerated in the 100 degree heat. No, don't think much of MSC.

The OZ navy? They were let into town after last time?

According to the internet, the Millinocket is being used as a platform for experiments with a "rail gun."

Are you inferring they will pop that bad boy off while here in Cambodia as part of exercises?
