Body of Poor Woman Left Outside Phnom Penh Pagoda

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the night of July 14, 2021, the dead body of a 46-year-old woman named Em Savoeun, a junk collector who lived in a rental room in Sangkat Choam Chao 1, Khan Po Sen Chey, was put in a cart outside of Kompeng pagoda in Tropang Lvea village.

According to the deceased's family, the woman became very ill and they were financially unable to afford treatment at the hospital, so she died in her rented room. The body was taken to the pagoda by relatives to beg for help to cremate her body since the family could not afford to transport her body back to her hometown in Prey Veng province.

The police were called and an autopsy was performed. The deceased tested negative for Covid19, so the body was therefore returned to the family for cremation. RIP.
