A Koh Kong cow killed after mooving violation
Fri, 12 August 2016
Phak Seangly

A 31-year-old man in Koh Kong’s Mondul Seima landed himself in hospital yesterday after an unfortunate encounter with a cow.

The man was driving his motorbike when he smashed into a bovine blocking the road.

The cow-tastrophic crash unfortunately proved instantly fatal for the farmyard critter, and police are now on the hunt for its owner to find a means of redressing the damage done to beast and man.

Would-be thieves cowed by Phnom Penh granny

Thu, 26 November 2015
Oum Vuth

A couple confessed to their inability to rob a nonagenarian woman in her home on Tuesday in the capital’s Chroy Changvar district.

Police say the suspects went to the 90-year-old’s home and tried to tie her up, but somehow failed, panicked and hid in a pagoda.

Police heard the elderly victim shouting and quickly apprehended the lousy thieves. Police say that they were trying to steal a moto.

Tippler topples over after boozy night out

A Phnom Penh moto driver had one too many before setting off for his home in Chamkarmon district in the wee small hours of Sunday morning.

He made it home but fell off his bike and began to vomit on his doorstep before making it inside.

Police came to his aid, only to be accused of trying to steal his moto.

Family members were summoned to take him inside, thanking police before doing so.

‘Do you know who I am?’ says man bound for jail
Wed, 24 August 2016
Bun Sengkong

A pissed-up motodop who claimed to have friends in high places found himself distinctly unpopular with capital cops on Monday evening in Chamkarmon district.

He had drunkenly driven his moto into two ladies as they crossed the street, but instead of apologising began a self-aggrandising rant where he claimed to know lots of well-connected people.

Police arriving on the scene clearly disagreed: the boozy blowhard ended up in the station and his victims in the hospital.

Battambang bum botches bike theft in capital

Thu, 25 August 2016
Kong Meta

Traffic in Phnom Penh can be painfully slow, a lesson learned the hard way by one recent Battambang transplant.

The man nailed the first step of stealing a moto but – thanks in part to criminal incompetence and vigilant neighbours – fluffed the rest.

Having unlocked the moto, he failed to start it, and instead of speeding to freedom received an all too stationary smackdown from neighbours.

Once he’d been sufficiently duffed up, the crook was passed to commune police.

Bored village vegetable swindler branches out

Thu, 25 August 2016
Kong Meta

A notorious village vegetable thief was arrested in Kandal province on Tuesday, after going on a one-man rampage with a slingshot.

The 42-year-old was reportedly known to local cops for his habit of vegetable pilfering, but changed his criminal tack when he began indiscriminately firing stones at other villagers.

When he got tired of tormenting the neighbourhood, he turned his attention to stationary targets: fuse boxes on electricity pylons. After breaking the glass on 13 boxes, he was arrested.

Sexy moves and artful dodgers fool motodop

Mon, 29 August 2016

A motodop was left penniless and probably a bit embarrassed after being robbed by a group of prostitutes while engaged in negotiations with them on Friday.

The man was inquiring about the price of their services when one of the sex workers gave him a hug.

Rather than an unsolicited gesture of affection, however, the hug was actually pretence to slip the wallet out of the man’s pocket, which the vigilant motodop immediately noticed.

When the man raised the alarm, the group of women scattered, and police were only able to apprehend two of the culprits.

Truck crash just like a movie, sans fireball
Thu, 8 September 2016 Kong Meta

One driver luckily avoided a fiery death when he fell asleep while transporting a truckful of petrol yesterday in Preah Vihear province.

The drowsy driver fell asleep at the wheel, losing control of his vehicle. The liberated truck headed for an off-road adventure before coming to a stop by flipping over.

When the now wide awake transporter came to, petrol was spilling from the truck, but he walked away from the accident unscathed.

Moto battleground gets militia seal of approval

Post Staff, Mon, 19 September 2016

Two motorbikes collided in Phnom Penh on Saturday night before a drunken military police officer bulldozed through the scene for good measure.

While both moto drivers were reportedly injured, one of them was at least healthy enough to flee the scene on foot.

Soon after, a military police officer crashed into one of the downed motos, unwittingly dragging it for hundreds of metres.

When police stopped them, he explained that he was drunk – apparently a satisfactory answer since no arrest was made.
