This is a big deal for photographers who spend all their time in Photoshop and Lightroom; the Google Nik add on filters are now all available for free for download (from here in fact - https://www.google.com/nikcollection/ ). They used to be pretty expensive and are really popular with pro photographers. Sadly, the announcement probably means they are also dead in the water for future development but they work fine in the here and now (on most versions of PS and LR).

and I use bridge/Camera raw for editing before moving to cs 5 for advanced work if desired
