Computer becomes first to pass Turing Test in artificial intelligence milestone, but academics warn of dangerous future
A programme that convinced humans that it was a 13-year-old boy has become the first computer ever to pass the Turing Test. The test — which requires that computers are indistinguishable from humans — is considered a landmark in the development of artificial intelligence, but academics have warned that the technology could be used for cybercrime.

Notice, they made the program simulate a non-native English speaking child. That is not the same as passing the Turing test simulating an adult native English speaker.

Also, they only convinced 33% of the Judges.

Finally, does anyone (besides first year philosophy students) actually think the Turing test is a real indicator for intelligence? Does anyone remember ELIZA? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA

These are not the droids you are looking for.

When they come up with a robot that can expertly perform oral sex, THEN they will be onto something. :thumb:

Yeah, sneaky restricting the respondent to a child non-native speaker. I take any comment from Kevin Warwick with a good pinch of salt. And journos do like to sensationalise their stories.
