Disposal of non-functioning HP Chromebook

I was about to chuck in the trash when I thought someone may want it for parts. Someone may even get it going.
It is 14 inch, somewhere around 2014 vintage.
The last time it did anything, the screen said Chrome OS needed to be reinstalled. Now it does nothing but the power light comes on.
I don't want any money for it.
