If I take a photo of a Khmer sign or document, then download it onto my laptop, can I use Google translate to translate it to English ?

If so, ,, how.

All nice, but at least on my phone Google tells me for Khmer the option is not available.

Same. It's available for some languages but not Khmer.

If you do it with an English picture or document, you can use an OCR (optical character recognition) program to convert it to text. English OCR apps are getting more and more accurate.

Khmer OCR apps are being developed, but at this stage they are not very good. In a few years time they may be better.

If you can convert it to Khmer text, you can use a translation website to translate it. Even these are not very good yet.

I don't know about documents but some have commented that Khmer is not an option when using Google translate.

If you use the Google translate app to speak Khmer to you, it will tell you that Khmer is not available, but if you use the web browser version (on your phone or a computer) it does speak the Khmer words to you when you want to translate words from English to Khmer.

This might be the case for documents also. Worth a try....

In this day and age, we have become accustomed to the benefits of technology, and how quickly things may be done using technology. But it all has to start somewhere.

There's an alternative App for that. It's possibly not as quick as Google translate if google could translate it. However, it frequently is more accurate.
So, if you need to know now, then it may not be for you. This app may not fit on your mobile device, so any attempt to do so may invalidate the device' warranty.

If you have a little time to spare, then I offer you the

Weirdly this used to work on my phone, then suddenly a couple of months ago Khmer voice output was not available, and more recently it has started working again.
