BBC iPlayer

BBC iPlayer has been making it more and more difficult to access from overseas. Along with having to register giving a UK postal code, and stating you have a TV license, they are actively blocking VPNs... and getting better and better at it over time. Until yesterday, I could access iPlayer with Astrill (usually after some tweaking... like clearing cookies, flushing DNS cache etc.), but now NOTHING works. Astrill support says their engineers are "working on it" but can't say when they might come up with a solution.

Is anybody using a VPN that allows you to access iPlayer? If so, what VPN?

Astrill has asked me to give them a couple of days and then try it. I don't know what their techs are going to do, but they only have 9 UK servers.

I've looked at Cyberghost and it has 122 UK servers (so more difficult for BBC to 'tag' an IP as a VPN's)... and it's less than half the price of Astrill per month... if you sign up for two years.

If Astrill doesn't fix this soon, I may become a Cyberghost customer and not renew my Astrill account when it expires.

VPNs advertise...don't they also have a recognisable footprint/signature? Which could make blocking them easier, particularly when you only want to block access to one service?
