Yes. Lots of sites do it. Some tell you, some don’t.
Instead of ads they use your cpu processing speed

There's nothing you can do about it except stop using Pirate Bay... or after using Pirate Bay, shut down you computer then restart it.

Yeah I've seen java script embeded in some websites that makes calls to crypto mining pools. Mining is basically running a simple .bat file that points to a wallet address.
