Where to buy good value computers?
Where to buy good value computers?
Can anyone recommend good places to buy computers at good prices.
A significant proportion of computers sold in Cambodia are low performance, slow computers, which most of us would not want to use.
Many places selling mid range computers have high profit margins, and sell them at high prices.
Can anyone recommend places where you can get good value for money.
I am thinking notebooks (laptops), something like an AMD or i3 or i5 with 4 or 8 gb of RAM.
I don't want Windows. I use Linux Mint.

Bought a 2kw UPS and misc things at Chantra. Quite happy with them as they honored their warranty on the on SD card I had that went bad.
They carry all kinds of cool stuff too like CPU water coolers, decorative ram, custom cases and some pretty serious gaming hardware. Doubt you're looking for that though, but thought I'd mention it.

Re: Where to buy good value computers?
I bought a secondhand Lenovo x230 with an i5-3320, 8GB and 320GB hdd for $295 about 2.5 years ago. Tony Computer, #38 St.360, BKK3, Khan Chamkarmorn. It runs linux like a charm. I couldn't get Mint 17.3 KDE to drive the bluetooth properly but MX17 has no problems.
If you don't need the newest, shiniest and don't mind slumming it with a used machine, I think it was good value.

If you know what you are looking for and at it is best to buy from a private party

(non-Apple)Laptops have an incredibly low profit margin, often $10 or so...unless you are talking about gaming laptops, perhaps?
You could ask for a non_Windows installed laptop and just run your Linux installer CD rom or from USB
Linux rules.

If you can go to Ebay and there is a shipping agent in CA to send to PP.
I bought for friends and cost 50-70$ for shipping to PP.
