BA's 'global IT system failure' due to 'power supply issue' is probably a lie

All flights from Gatwick and Heathrow cancelled

BA has not specified where the power issues occurred and we have asked them about this ... If you know more about the problem, or where the "power supply issue" occurred, please drop us a line here.

Ha ha, a power cut. And we are supposed to believe that ...? Someone will eventually blow the whistle, and then BA will be very embarrassed ...

NO IT system of that magnitude fails because of a power supply issue - airline systems have redundancies on their redundancies, this is obviously BS and anyone in the tech industry would be laughing and giving BA a wink for their audacity at even suggesting such a thing.

BA chief executive Alex Cruz says he will not resign and that flight disruption had nothing to do with cutting costs.
He told the BBC a power surge, had "only lasted a few minutes", but the back-up system had not worked properly.
He said the IT failure was not due to technical staff being outsourced from the UK to India.

There was no evidence of a cyber attack, he added.

"There was a power surge and there was a back-up system, which did not work at that particular point in time. It was restored after a few hours in terms of some hardware changes... we will make sure that it doesn't happen again," Mr Cruz said in his first interview.

Questions remain about how a power problem could have had such impact, said the BBC's technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones. One theory was that returning systems were unusable as the data had become unsynchronised.

Sometimes I think the BS story is sent out there to appease the ignorant people who want the 10 second answer.

This is now being blamed on outsourcing to India.

What a load of BS. Power failure...and the backup system failed...say goodbye to your job.

The problem may be that they have not replaced old system ware and updated the whole system, possibly in attempt to save money.

Surprised the Russians haven't been brought into it yet, Boris Johnson is probably trying, though.
