Cambodia will be more connected to mainland China next week with an additional direct flight route to the populous southern province of Hainan, to be operated by a Chinese airline.
The new international flight route will connect Hainan province’s Haikou City to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and will be in operation on July 19.
According to Cambodia’s State Secretariat for Civil Aviation, there will be one weekly flight from Haikou City to Phnom Penh and two weekly flights to Siem Reap, a destination popular with Chinese tourists because of Angkor Wat.
Minister of Tourism, Thong Khon, said in a meeting Wednesday there were 35 flights daily between Cambodia and China. He added that 20 of the flights were between China’s mainland provinces and Siem Reap.
