If you test positive on arrival, you will be sent to a Government Hospital, most of which are very basic in terms of facilities, and some are large open halls with little to no privacy. Ablutions are mostly very basic outdoors squat toilets and bucket baths. Doctors and nurses are not great at communicating and many foreigners are left absolutely clueless as to what is going on. This will all be at your own expense (see attached fee schedule), if you have the Forte COVID-19 Insurance policy, there will be no out of pocket expenses, if you have your own private travel health insurance you will have to pay up front and wait until your insurance provider reimburses you. The five hospitals in PP for patients detected with the Omicron variant are;
- The National Centre for Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control (CENAT),
- Olympic Stadium,
- Chak Angre Health Centre,
- Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital, and
- Luang Mer Hospital.

There are additional hospitals/quarantine centres for those who test positive for non-Omicron variant.

There are private options available though, but they are not cheap, the Kravan COVID Care centre is the most affordable based on the information I can find, see details below.

Have you tested positive?

I know of two people, on separate flights, who recently tested negative on arrival at PNH but were on flights with positive cases. Both were free to go home.
I would think it likely that there are now positive cases on most flights, given the infectiousness of Omicron.

@violet, no, but I am receiving near daily first hand reports from travellers who are testing positive on arrival.

@armchairlawyer it seems as if just about every flight has people arriving with positive cases now, only those who test positive are taken to a hospital/quarantine facility, and must have 2x Negative PCR tests in a row to be released. The MoH contacts passengers from flights with positive cases (confirmed by PCR following the ART on arrival) and advises them to self-quarantine and to go for a PCR test on a certain date (free of charge).

Any idea what day # the tests are? 7, 10, 14???

- Confirmatory PCR and variant determination is conducted following a POS ART on arrival. First POS PCR test is Day Zero
- On Day 7 they start conducting PCR testing every 2 days, until 2 negative tests in a row before being released

*there is a push for a time-based release policy, as people can continue to test POS for several weeks/months after initial infection
