Cambodia had the chance to move closer to Vietnam and Thailand as a prime travel destination by opening up early with their successful vaccination program and they totally and utterly messed it up. Now its back to being a stop over for people visiting the other two countries

Don't get excited folks. It's just an announcement of a proposal, not a concrete plan. They've already mentioned June 2022 (8 months from now) as when things may be normal.

You can read this for details:

In a draft plan sent to the Ministry of Transport on Friday for approval, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam proposed launching pilot flights to carry foreign tourists to some tourist destinations like Phu Quoc, Khanh Hoa and Quang Ninh during the first phase scheduled to start this quarter.

From July aviation authorities would [will] operate regular international flights based on travel demand at that time.

Vietnam Airlines currently operates one-way flight[s] to carry passengers from Vietnam to Asian and European destinations.

Have never heard or seen much evidence of sex pats from South Asia in VN. Vietnam is not really well-known as a place to go for sex tourism, is it? :chin:

Oh we know we can rely on you to bring up the nit picking details we already know.
Especially regarding Thailand.
Why would anyone live here with Thailand right next door?
Thanks Dick.

Doubtful.
Thailand have been at it (tourism) for at least 40 years and probably Vietnam too. They are far more accommodating and set up for tourists than Cambodia ever will be.

People will just wait.

He might like Thailand but he's absolutely right about this 0 quarantine or 7 days it's not exactly opening up to 2 week tourists

Will be like dominoes when the first one announces - all will pile in.
Given Australia's recent announcement on border openings, I am surprised they did not all cave.

I suppose until China lifts her inbound Q requirement, it is pretty moot anyway where mass tourism is concerned.
