E-visas for Vietnam

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Vietnam extends eVisa
By Don Ross -
November 9, 2018
HANOI, 9 November 2018: Vietnam has extended its eVisa project for another two years.

The pilot was launched in 2017 and was due to expire in February 2019.

Nationals from 40 countries, including China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, the US, Germany and Sweden could apply for the online visa.

The scheme offers a 30-day, single-entry eVisa for a tourist, or business trip, for a USD25 non-refundable fee paid by credit card when completing the application form.

While it is not as user-friendly as Myanmar’s eVisa, arguably the best in the region, it is considerably more convenient than any of Thailand’s visa options including its visa-on-arrival in saving time and clearing up the visa requirement before travel begins.

Visitors who have an eVisa can enter the country at any of Vietnam’s eight international airports, 13 international land border gates and by sea at seven designated ports.

Hi All

recently returned from Vietnam
I applied for the Visa online, cant remember the cost involved, wasn't huge but was also hit up for $25US each when we arrived at HCMC airport
the Visa counter was a complete circus

When they emailed me our accepted Visa application form they also included pages of other peoples details, addresses etc
Is the application necessary or could we just have lobbed up and done over the counter?

Here is a list of countries that can rock up without a visa (note that some countries only get a visa for 15 days): https://www.myvietnamvisa.com/vietnam-v ... ption.html

Everybody else needs to make advance arrangements AFAIK.

This website, https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/trang-chu-ttdt, is the legitimate eVisa website. You pay $25 via credit card online and NO further payment is required upon entry:
