AirAsia flight turns back to Perth with 'technical issue'
25 June 2017
A pilot has turned around an AirAsia flight on its way to Malaysia and returned to Perth due to a technical problem with the plane.

The plane departed just before 7am (WST) on Sunday for Kuala Lumpur but the pilot identified a “technical issue” and decided to return to Perth, a Perth airport spokesman said.

The plane landed safely back in Perth at about 10am. Comment is being sought from AirAsia.

The ABC reported that one passenger had said the plane was shaking like a “washing machine” but that the crew had handled the situation very well.
“It was essentially the engine seized up I think, that’s what they told us anyway,” passenger Brenton Atkinson told the ABC.
“The whole thing, the plane started vibrating and shaking pretty bad, and we had to turn around and come back.”

I have found the exact opposite. Where as the Air Asia cabin crew are nearly always Malaysian, [ Muslim ? ] you can expect them to not have been out partying and drinking all night before starting their shift with a sweaty body odour that belongs on a kangaroo.

I read another report which said it was one of the cabin crew - not the pilot - who told the passengers to say a prayer. But even so, it probably caused the passengers to be even more freaked out than they were. What a stupid thing to say, may as well tell them to cross their fingers for a safe landing.

Whoever it was, that was a very stupid move. I am pretty scared of flying at the best of times, an announcement like that would have me completely go apeshit.

Holy crap. A flying washing machine indeed. And a half hour of that before landing again, hopefully right-side up. It does say something about aircraft engineering that a plane can hold itself together while shaking violently.
