Direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Sihanoukvillle are due to start on 9 August 2017. Air Asia is proposing four flights a week at present. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.
Note that if this works out it could be a good deal for Sihanoukville Kiwi expats, since the best onward route to NZ is the Malaysia Airlines direct flight from KL to Auckland.

The new service started today as the first direct flight from Kuala Lumpur landed in Sihanoukville with 172 passengers aboard.
Direct flights are scheduled four times a week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

so that's a decent price. might be fun for a long weekend or such.

Hotels nowhere in Malaysia are especially cheap $30 min for a decent room
