On my way to Sri Lanka right now, any last minute suggestions?

So, I got told yesterday as I was getting off work that I could take a holiday this upcoming week if I wanted, as there is nothing but pointless busy work to be done.
Already spent the last 2 days doing nothing at work, so I decided to get the fuck outta the desert and visit a new country I've never been too.
SRI LANKA IT IS!
I plan to get my Open Water Diver's certification through PADI while I'm there, making it a productive holiday instead of just a week of hedonism.
Any suggestions at all from anyone about what to do there, or areas to go to? I just booked this flight about 12 hours ago, as I had no idea a holiday would fall in my lap like this.

Try to visit the botanical garden at Perediniya and/or the fortress city of Galle and/or Kandy and/or the
End of the World right up on top - there is a big mountain which takes 2 days - Adam's Peak.
Go by train if you have time - Galle or Trincomalee.
Keep a sharp eye open for scammers and touts - Ha Ha - "You want Ganja, brown sugar, boys ...?"

Near Trimcolalee is where I might do the diving certification.
I've heard of Kandy. Is that where Buddha's tooth is?

also in Sri Lanka''s cool uplands, Nuraya Eliya (sp?) is
very agreeable

The train from Colombo to Kandy is nice. You can stick your head out the window. I think you can buy tickets online.
In Kandy, get a tuk tuk driver to take you on the three temples tour. Some won't know what you mean, some will. Half day, I think I paid $15-$20.

IF u do get to Sri Lana must visits are Hikkaduwa,Galle and Kandy (where the tooth is) a beautiful area and the drive up from the coast is stunning. When i did my bicycle trips this was one of the highlights of 18 months on the road
