Siem Reap Restaurants to try

Post by WildAlaskaKen »

Got these for youse, if you live here, please add or comment. I just tossed in an average bill (food and drink). Might as well get some useful info out here. I have eaten in all these places more than once.

1. Cafe Soriya. Try the eggs benedict. $7-12
2. Swiss Cafe/Pizza Man. consistent 5 star reviews in German, great schnitzel (400 gram one lol) $7-12
3. VLT. Best pies in town, great Brit food. $6
4. Happy Taco. Best Chicken Burger $6
5. Khmer Taste: Everything is good and cheap $6. Avoid the $1 burgers, which I do everywhere, I want chicken, not breading
6. Big Boy: Great American burgers, some are spendy $12
7. Joes Burger Bar: Best burgers I have ever had in SE Asia $12 gets you a Triple Okie Smashburger with HAND CUT fries and its a struggle for even a loathesome lardass like me to gag the last piece down.
8. Eric Keyser: Tasty Western sarnies. $10
9. Dae Bak: incredibly packed when Korean tours are in town, great Banchan, great bimbimbap $12
10. Buribo: cute tasty little Japanese?korean size burgers. AIR CONDITIONED AIR CONDITIONED $6
11. Himilayan Kitchen: Decent Tandoori Chicken if on sale via Foodpanda. $10
12. Pasta La Vista: Very good overall $6
13. Anchor Tacos: I think they have the best ones in town $7 stuffs you to the point you look like you swallowed a bowling ball.
14. Yi-Nget Beef sticks. Local barbeque. Killer. If you can eat more than $5 worth you are a disgusting animal. Yes I am.
15. Khmer Grill. Decent $10
16. Gelato Lab: Killer
17. Fluffies Soft Serve: far far beyond your DQ experience.
18. Harrys: Their specials are usually good. $10. I would note that there is this scrawny white guy who stands in front of Harrys in PP and is the most annoying and rude shill I have ever seen. For some reason, he offends me to the point that I want to smash his face immediately

Im hungry now.

Jeepers - how could you leave out Burger King ?
It’s our “ go to “ along with 5 star chicken -
Today is Tuesday- the day for taco 🌮 tuesday -
the only day I ever go to Maybe Later
Thai fusion is good for real thai food
I’m also a fan of SaiKou Japanese restaurant- for the raw fish
There is also another more inexpensive japanese place I go sometimes
because I like to see them stay in business ; kamon is a little hole in the wall - not a recommendation but ok for me -
Anchor tacos / tried once or twice but 🤙🏽
Thanx for the Buribo mention I want to try the burger
I been kicked out of joes and big boy - but been thinking of a delivery if they would deliver to me - and viva kicked out for accidentally dropping my silly margarita glass a few times
There is a new pizza place I want to try called lost city pizza society
Bella’s pizzeria and uptown pizza not bad , but 7 years old jr. Is fussy
And won’t sit down. /
don't forget “ our place “ and some times tevy’s for loud locals / backpackers I only go if they advertise “ hurry up before it’s gone “ they made a pot of Irish stew
Yea - DQ here sucks big time

I Google to see if it was a chain or. not , it’s not -
But see a CEO reference
Good hamburger 🍔 better and much less waste than Habit burgers
Nice set up
Not sure if will go back again or not .
Pizza society is closed on Friday and Sunday -

This nameless barbecue on "Aleah Rd" (names seem to never be consistent, I'm also told it's just called Pv Sala Baitong) two stores down from M Brown Coffee is probably one of the best I've had in Siem Reap; as it is adjacent to a few study centres and schools it is really popular with students and has equally low prices to boot. Nothing fancy, but really good meat and nice condiments.

Not a fan of Joes; the owner is impolite and impaitent as can be, as reflected in how the staff talk back rather rudely to customers with legitimate thoughts on FoodPanda, and the one time I ordered their US-style Chinese food, they gave me a few pieces of meat covering what felt like half a kilo of rice; their handcut chips are admittingly really good though.

Regardless of whether or not you agree, it's extremely poor form for restaurants to lack humility enough that they criticise their own customers for having a legitimate, honest feedback such as "too dry", so I simply refuse to go there since shitty attitudes make me lose my appetite. This shows an ego that refuses improvement, as they are already convinced their product is primus inter pares:

What rubbish. I've had legit Chinese-American food from My Little Café (highly recommended btw, just ask them to give it "Khmer spicy taste" if it tastes too barang) that gave you almost twice as much chicken as they give, and yet it comes out 2k riel less per order.
