If ur a smoker in thailand, ur home is NOT ur castle

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

If ur a smoker in thailand, ur home is NOT ur castle

The ban on smoking at home in Thailand comes into effect today. From today people can be prosecuted for “domestic abuse” by lighting up a cigarette inside a home.

People can call Family and Protection centres on 1300 to report a smoker.

According to the new law, women and children are often the recipients of second hand smoke and the new legislation and fines is designed to assist in protecting them from the harmful effects of cigarette smoke.

Smoking has already been banned at airports, including the internal ‘smoking rooms’, now replaced with rooms outside terminals for smokers. Smoking on many Thai beaches was banned back in February 2018.

This law will go into the basket of all the laws in Thailand that do not get enforced. The cops are too busy earning money from running traffic toll gates and raiding clubs.

Thailand's tourism authority is reminding travellers about its smoking ban

The Tourism Authority of Thailand is reminding travellers about its smoking ban in public areas, which aims to promote a safe, clean and smoke-free environment for all.

The ban was introduced in Thailand in 2014 for health reasons, and visitors should be aware that electronic cigarettes, shisha smoking and electronic shishas are also illegal. They should also bear in mind that there is a smoking ban on beaches across the country, which came into effect in November 2017 as part of the country’s sustainable tourism efforts. The reason the tourism authority is reminding visitors is because there have been recent incidents of travellers who were unaware of the rules breaking the law and being faced with on-the-spot fines or being arrested.

Travellers are advised not to bring any electronic cigarettes or shishas with them, nor any item or equipment associated with e-cigarettes including the ‘juice’ used in the device. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is advising travel agents or tour operators to ensure that their clients are aware of the ban, especially at airports, sports complexes and tourist attractions nationwide. Six airports operated and managed by the Airports of Thailand were declared no smoking zones from 3 February, with all smoking rooms inside the terminals closed.

Outdoor places where smoking is prohibited include exercise or sports training facilities, sporting venues or competitions of any kind, public parks, zoos, amusement parks, children’s playgrounds and markets. As a result of these measures, Thailand has become one of the world’s forerunners in the fight to ban smoking from almost all indoor public places, indoor workplaces and public transport.

Smoking has been banned in public housing in America for some time now. In Canada a number of jurisdictions outlaw smoking in motor vehicles if children are present. Second-hand smoke will kill you just as dead as smoking will.

That's the same with alcohol. You can drink as much as you like , and someone else could die.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I am a smoker. I guess the biggest difference between the two in your analogy is killing someone because you are drunk is still a crime whilst killing someone with second-hand smoke isn t. In China, if there are rules they certainly aren t obeyed when it comes to smoking. Having breakfast at the hotel while the man at the next table smoked was off-putting to put it mildly, however, as soon as my meal and coffee were done I was out the door for a quick dart.
