It's great that the Thais are reading this. I noticed many times that Thais purposely do not speak English. Even many Thais who work with foreigners refuse to learn the 20 words it would take, unlike Cambodians and all other nations. Learning 20 words of English is just basic respect if you happen to be in a job where you work with international clientèle. Many Thais purposely withdraw that respect, and I also noticed the rudeness on a regular basis that you don't find in other Asian countries.
I understand it stems from the fact they resent the types of foreigners who have used Thailand as their playground, but it was in fact the Thais selling themselves out like no other nation and catering to the mafia and lowlifes of the West that resulted in this.
After many trips there, I see the Thais as the most two faced nation.
For one thing they prostitute their daughters like no other nation in the world, at the same time they block pornography on the Internet.
They sell themselves out to foreigners, but at the same time they do not allow integration and opportunities for those foreigners who are seriously interested in their culture and language and would like to establish themselves and invest in Thailand. They make it extremely difficult with their visa policies, no property ownership, no business ownership, no path to citizenship. But of course you can buy all this if you pay enough (elite visa, etc.), and they don't care if you got that money by being Russian mafia or a hitman for the cartel. But for normal people looking to integrate and contribute to their society, tough luck, they don't want us.
Besides that I don't know if others noticed, but Thailand is becoming a surveillance police state in a really bad way.
The above does not apply to the vast majority of normal Thai people that have nothing to do with this entire story, so I don't judge any individual Thai without knowing them, a lot of Thais are great people who I respect and have nothing to do with this.
you make some good points and some of the above is true, some not so much....
,noticed many times that Thais purposely do not speak English...
NOT true, Plenty of thai's , especially if their working the tourist market speak english ,yep go to nakorn nowhere, very few will

Partially true,Thailand was/is a very easy country to enter and very easy to do business in the 70-90's, so many lowlifes did end here. Pattaya was built up on tons of German illegal slot machine money....
Even now, if u have $$$ its easy to do or get just about anything..
they don't want us.
Never have, never will, been saying for years. Better put a sign at arrival "thanks for visiting Thailand and spending ur money and please come back but dont stay long..."
For one thing they prostitute their daughters like no other nation in the world, at the same time they block pornography on the Internet.
Yep but they cant stop their own citizens from anything, BUT they can control the internet.
They sell themselves out to foreigners
100% true, they are so proud they have never been colonized, BUT in fact all they did was allow anyone ( Burmese, Brits, Japanese ) to come in and the thai's gave them the keys to the country
You forgot the most draconian laws concerning lèse-majesté, (which Cambodia just also started enforcing).....
They make it extremely difficult with their visa policies, no property ownership, no business ownership, no path to citizenship;
Nope,if u qualify its very easy to stay short time ( 30 days =visa free for so many) or long term, ( you mention the elite visa... so why not allow those that have money a longer visa??), you can own a business with thai partners ( same as Cambodia, Laos, Burma) Or if ur American --100% ownership), Citizenship after 3 years if holding a type B visa and some tests and alot less $$$ than Cambodia,...i know a few Farangs that hold thai citizenship. The landownership are NO DIFFERENT than any other country in SE Asia.
Besides that I don't know if others noticed, but Thailand is becoming a surveillance police state in a really bad way
. No more so than the UK or any western country...Immigration does keep adding more paperwork for us to stay...and for sure wants to know where those staying here are.
The above does not apply to the vast majority of normal Thai people that have nothing to do with this entire story, so I don't judge any individual Thai without knowing them, a lot of Thais are great people who I respect and have nothing to do with this.
so why, because of a few bad people do so many, ( expats in Cambodia it seems), hate thailand. You see it that much different over there??....Cambodia seems to be implementing the same things that they do here.
some additional points..
Thai police have got to be at the top of the most corrupt police force ( along with the khmers) in the world.
2 very recent stories.
One lady in Issan last week won 6,000,000 baht on the lottery, the local police chef went to her and showed her some made up papers accusing her of all sorts of stuff, IF she didn't give him half. Guess what she did and then went to the newspaper .. creating a hell of a mess for him ( he was arrested) and the police force.
last week the Royal thai police came down from Bangkok to Phuket without informing the local police or the Navy, they raided all the jet ski owners, arrested 75 of them for being unregistered and fined them 1,000 baht each and told them to get legal, The head of the Navy here was Immediately transferred. Local police an navy were pissed they weren't informed of the raid (wonder why ?? LOL)
The jet ski/para sail owners have always thought of themselves above the law and someone is making $$$
Going rate to be transferred to phuket for a police officer is 100,000 baht. for a police chef it runs in the millions....
Thai's truly take advantage of unsuspecting tourists, ripping them off, overcharging and such, its in their nature, same as its in their nature to lie..
For many it may not be the best place in the world , ( everywhere has its troubles), but its still a dam good place to live...
