No Fullmoon Parties in Koh Phangan this October (2017)

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

well, good. Lamest thing I ever went to. I thought the full moon party was actually a thing, but a bunch of crappy beachfront bars all competing with crappy opposing music does not a party make.

Did you read the notice? It's a mourning period, there won't be any parties in Thailand in October.

actually it wont be all oct, nor will all bars close
expect things will be quiet from the 13th ( 1 year from when he died) till the 29th when the funeral rights/ceremony are finished.
With the actual cremation on the 26th.
would imagine 25th-29th bars will not serve and no loud music, parties, anything

That makes sense.
And presumably back to wearing all black for those five days?

even during the initial 30 days, very few, (outside goverment officials/employees) here in phuket, wore Black.
expect bangkok to be very somber....

About turn. According to this, the full moon party on Koh Phangan will take place after all.
Presumably there will be too much income loss for the locals if it is cancelled.
