KO SAMUI.
A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to bring Adam Hobbs home after a serious accident in Thailand.

The family of a soldier on life support after a motorbike crash in Thailand needs £25,000 to get him home after his insurance ran out.

Adam Hobbs fell off the bike in Koh Samui and now he is unable to breathe independently and has locked-in syndrome so can only respond with his eyes.

Family and friends are now trying to raise money to get the Welsh Guard back to the UK – although the amount needed could grow significantly...

Why ship someone on life support half way around the world?

My sister has enduring power of attorney for me and has been instructed in no uncertain terms to pull the plug if I was in this situation.

even if he had insurance most standard packages only cover if the driver is riding a bike 125cc or less, has a helmet and is not intoxicated, im guessing he would have failed all 3, maybe why he "has no insurance"??

General concensus is yet another bloke without suitable insurance ?

There was a woman from Tyneside who died in Bangkok last month after spending time in hospital & running up over £30000 (1.3million baht) of bills . The family are also appealing for the public to pay her medical bills, as the woman couldn't be arsed to pay for travel insurance

I just find it amazing that people travel without travel insurance, you do wonder whats wrong with them to be honest

I had the misfortune to need medical attention in BKK. The very first thing they asked for was proof of insurance or sufficient funds, otherwise the doors were barred. I do have good insurance and got the royal treatment, but then the 4-night stay and a small operation racked up a USD 7,000 bill....

best is to make a fake platinum card and keep inside ur wallet, when the medical staff start searching for money, they would go "whoa loaded guy, make sure we keep him alive" :beer3:

Fair enough, as long as you have a good idea of what medical bills you may face paying for various problems, actually have the money to pay for it, and don't intend to run off to Facebook & start begging for cash from the general public whilst whinging how unfair life is & that you didn't think you would need insurance when travelling
