Another gold chain snatched in Pattaya, but this time from a Russian woman on the back of a motorbike. The Russian man tried to chase the thieves on foot but slipped over on the wet road.

Not trying to blame the poor victims or anything, but walking around with a gaudy gold chain on open display might not be the smartest idea?

I'm surprised it wasn't a Russian man who got his necklace stolen. Along with Chinese men and rednecks everywhere, they tend to wear more gold than the women.

Well spotted. According to this latest version of events, it was the Russian man wearing the necklace:

At 12.30am, in the early hours of October 2, Pattaya police were informed of a snatch and grab in Naklua.

Forty-year-old Russian tourist Mr Andrei Ananev was with his wife, on a rented motorbike, when they were approached by two Thai people who ripped the gold chain from his neck and raced off.

Mr Ananev gave chase although, unfortunately due to the heavy rain, lost control of his motorbike and crashed into another rider.

Korean man on motorbike - gold chain - ladyboy... join the dots to find the story:
At the scene in front of Patrol rest area, Mr. Jonsun Ryu, 28 years Korean Engineer in rage saying that while he was riding on motorcycle taxi, there was a teenager snatched his gold necklace worth Bht. 30,000 and drove away. He was trying to run after the man but not success. He would like the man to be arrested so that he would stop commit more crimes.
Repeat the scenario but with an Indian victim...

Walking around Thailand with thousands of £'s of jewellery etc on display

Why do I feel no sympathy whatsoever for the victims ?
