Deport me

So... Job search didn't go well.

After years of teaching here, I returned post-covid to find a not-so-welcoming job market.

Returned here May of 2022.
Visa now overstay (one day).
No work no money.
No way home.

I assumed finding work wouldn't be an issue as I taught here successfully for years. Over 600 students, awards and a salary of 1500 per month at great schools.

I wasn't expecting this.

I have emailed immigration and I am awaiting response.
I no longer have a passport.
It kind of had an accident but I have photos of it and visa and entry stamp.

What should I expect?

I'm an American who can't get to Phnom Penh to apply for emergency return. It's bad.

Any feedback as to what I can expect is appreciated.

I'm not interested in the digging as to why, nor am I interested in the lectures, and no, I don't teach improper grammar which you are currently viewing.

I won't ever return here.
Place has changed.

I’m sorry to hear this. Have you contacted American citizen consular services at the US embassy? They can loan destitute Americans money to get home but I think there are hoops to jump through, like they require you to ask friends and family in the USA for money first.

On a side note (not a lecture) I’m surprised to hear that the job market is rough for experienced teachers. Did too many schools close down and not reopen? If you returned in early 2022 I would have thought you could have your pick of teaching jobs since so many foreigners left.

🤔 You should expect nothing good for your situation.

If you are British you can tell them you are having a mental breakdown and they will repatriate you.
They will take your passport pay for your flight and you have to pay them back later.
Maybe the United States embassy has the same?

ur shit out of luck and you know it< no idea why you would email immigration as nothing they can do if you dont even have a passport.
should have made ur way to the embassy last month BEFORE you hit rock bottom<
now every day its only going to get worse

GET ur self to the embassy and at the least apply for an emergency passport.
sorry but...

I sent out CV and got a reply.
They invited me to an interview.
Interview date was the 9th.
Email was sent on the 7th.
I received it on the 11th.

I emailed them asking to reschedule.
I have been told that they will contact me if a position opens up.
They never did.
My calls to them are now unanswered and not returned.

Got a second response from them.
Header was there, body was deleted.

Well sir, if you are only interested in individual’s opinion on what you should expect, I believe you already know the answer.

Did you tell the embassy you have no money, you can’t get to Phnom Penh and you need consular services in Siem reap?
