An extinction level event is rare. The last one wiped out the dinosaurs. Others closer ones were in the mini ice age in the Middle Ages, the drying of the Nile river, the asteroid hit in Siberia. All events that go beyond recent human memory (usually kids, parents, grandparents).

Robots and AI will save us by then.

Or end us.

Also, and for context, the fly by was 1.7 million miles at its closest point. The moon is a tad under 239,000 miles away. It is also not predicted to come this close again for a few hundred years.

If worrying about events beyond your control is your thing then may I suggest contemplating all those chunks of rock meandering around the sun, minding their own business un-noticed and undocumented by anyone.

How big is it? I couldn’t see any details in the OP- (did he write really small)
As for stuff orbiting, how’s about this-
