Delta has apologised after handing out 'creepy' Diet Coke napkins to passengers encouraging them to give their number to their 'plane crush'

Diet Coke and Delta Air Lines have apologised for napkins which were handed out to plane passengers encouraging travellers to flirt with other people on board.
Many people found the napkins “creepy” and suggested they were encouraging harassment.
“Write down your number and give it to your plane crush. You never know…” read one napkin.
Delta told INSIDER it “missed the mark” with the napkins, which have been removed from its aircraft.

Delta Air Lines and Coca-Cola have apologised for handing out “creepy” Diet Coke napkins to passengers on board flights.

Travellers have been sharing images of the napkins, which feature an array of messages encouraging fliers to flirt with fellow passengers, on Twitter.

“Be a little old school. Write down your number and give it to your plane crush. You never know…” reads one napkin.

Another says: “Because you’re on a plane full of interesting people and hey… you never know.”

There are even dedicated spaces on the napkins for people to write down their name and phone number.

Delta has collaborated with Diet Coke for some time, but the latest napkins have generally not gone down well.

“These napkins are creepy AF,” one person wrote in a message to both brands.

“Pretty sure no one appreciated unsolicited phone numbers in the ‘good old days’ and they sure as heck don’t want the number of someone who has been gawking at them on a plane for hours today. Not a good look.”

Another woman called the napkins “awful.”

One Twitter user pointed out that although the effect may not have been planned, the napkins were indeed “unintentionally creepy.”

Delta has since apologised for “missing the mark.”

“We rotate Coke products regularly as part of our brand partnership, but missed the mark with this one,” a Delta spokespeson told INSIDER. “We are sorry for that and began removing the napkins from our aircraft in January.”

A Coca-Cola spokesperson also told INSIDER: “We sincerely apologise to anyone we may have offended. We worked with our partners at Delta to begin removing the napkins last month and are replacing them with other designs.”

Maybe I’m taking the wrong thing from this article but.... I thought Diet Coke was now no more. I thought it was all Coke Zero now or is that only an Asia thing?

I've never heard of Diet Coke being discontinued, anywhere, although I'd be fine with that, as I prefer Coke Zero by a long shot.

Have you seen this crazy shit?

Coca-Cola with freaking COFFEE added to it. I hope this is only a Cambodia thing. It's not as bad as I would have guessed, but still kinda nasty.

Hm. If I was stereotypical american size and someone gave me a diet coke napkin then i would be pissed off
a) as a woman that some stewardess was impying i needed a diet
b) as a man that there was anything slip about the place a napkin goes
Like the rather politically incorrect DJ in a club once who played" i don't bop with no big fat woman" fr the weight watchers clubd annual do

Fanta Lemon used to be the best. For coffee doses of caffeine we used to drink Jolt cola. I think it's all Monster and Mountain Dew for kids today. Except for that poor bastard went belly up after one too many Red Bull

Sting wakes me up she's the queen of before breakfast stomach cramps.

Jolt cola brings back memories of high school. A can gave the pep needed to slog down a couple of hours of homework late at night.

Made the mistake once of taking the big bottle. My mind raced so fast I felt I was floating away. My eyes were wide open but there was no one home.

Now I just stick with Monster for a wake up dose for work.

After hearing about the cardiac stress stuff, I might just downgrade to coffee.
