Introducing to khmer language, Being an expat in Cambodia

Post by Samouth »

This guy is so amazing. His pronunciation is excellent. He knows a lot of colloquial. I guess he knows khmer better than i know English.

បើសិនធ្វើចេះ ចេះឲ្យគេកោត បើសិនធ្វើឆោត ឆោតឲ្យគេអាណិត។

If you know a lot, know enough to make them respect you, if you are stupid, be stupid enough so they can pity you.

i love practicing the khmer language, ive learnt so much more this year, and i'm always improving, i do love how when i learn new words by the book, then put them into practice, sometimes they dont understand straight away so i repeat it and then they repeat it back to me in the colloquial way, i love how they try and help you with learning the language

what i do find with the khmer language is that the more you learn, the easier it gets to learn, but also it gets a hell of a lot more difficult as like said in the video there can be so many different ways of saying the same word depending on who youre talking to

Why? You will be fine without knowing them. We don't use them quite often in writing.

Because I am learning to write Khmer, and I can never remember which way these go!

I see, they are quite confusing. 7 can be confused with 2 and 6 with 9.

If you remember Srak Ai(vowel Ai) then you will know how to write 6.
5 is similar 4.
And 7 is similar 2.
