Expected cost of a wedding - Phnom Penh, Cambodia in December
Hi,
What is the ballpark estimation for a wedding with 300-400 guests, in Phnom Penh in December this year? Won't be too lavish, definitely not Koh Pich or the Premier Centre.
Standard khmer wedding, johnny walker a table, beers by the dozen, standard food, probably rent a hall near to the airport.
Will probably be doing the full traditional 2 dayer with the 20 dresses, etc.

Well it'll have to be in one of the wedding centres Mondyal then? As street weddings are banned. Probably, with all the outfits and hire of venue and that many people around $20,000 Of course you make a big chunk back on the donations.

Was thinking of "Leap Mong", probably not it's actual name now but it's a recently built hall near here - https://www.google.com/maps/@11.5644811 ... 057,18.33z
Expecting maybe 8-12k return, at best, assuming 300 people people gave between $25-40 pp, can't really rely on it being a bit. Take it everything needs to be paid up front first as well?
Should also mention that we're married outside of Cambodia, so it'd just be for the event itself, no paperwork, etc.

40 pp is quite optimistic. I believe the going rate in the Penh is 20-25 per adult.philip.smith wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 7:49 am Was thinking of "Leap Mong", probably not it's actual name now but it's a recently built hall near here - https://www.google.com/maps/@11.5644811 ... 057,18.33z

If you want to get married without the Cambodian paperwork you better not call it a wedding, or you might make the news as another illegal wedding.

Can you link to some more details about the illegal weddings?
Re: Expected cost of a wedding - PP in December
Yep, you wont be able to call it a wedding without having completed the official marriage process in Cambodia, and since you are already legally married that is out of the question.
Call it a renewal of wedding vowels ceremony or some other .
If you hold it outside of an events/wedding centre, then you still need to obtain permission from the Sangkat to hold the ceremony an party and pay for "security".
