The meaning of the idiom is I'm not afraid of you, but a more literal translation is look at me straight in the face(when you say that). Another meaning of "chom" comes from the game of darts where it means "bullseye". Strongly suggested that you use it only when prepared to back it up.

you shouldn't need any words to get that point across if you do maybe you should rethink your options

At my age I walk away, even watching a fight upsets me.

Strangely enough at my age,74, I kinda miss it, but also at my age I'm wise enough to not confuse nostalgia with reality.
