I always hear that song sung in English. Why is that?
Could just as easily be sung in Khmer to the same melody.

Haha. This is a pet hate of mine.
:please: No more Happy Birthday song in English or Khmer or anything at all. This tune is a nightmare. It has been adopted as a universal party song in Cambodia even if its no one's birthday. It is extremely popular with ice-cream vendors and those shellfish sellers in the street. The occasion when it is sung often makes no more sense than singing We wish you a Merry Xmas in June. And actually, the popular Khmer version that JL posted is a sort of mix between Happy Birthday and Happy Xmas.

When I am President of the World for Life, this song will be banned (in every language, including sign language lol.)
Signed Grouchy old fart ;-)

Keep your ears open for the extended mix of "hebby barfday" - once you hear it, you won't forget it, and that pronunciation will slowly drive you nuts each time you hear it.
