Lemongrass growers look for capital to develop products
Meanchey Snuol Tret community President Neak Phea said on Friday that his community has planted many crops of lemongrass in Banteay Meanchey province but lacked the capital to manufacture products from the plant such as dried tea for local distribution and export to international markets.
Phea said that lemongrass can also be used to make health supplements.
He said that his community plans to export 20 tonnes of dried lemongrass products to Canada this year.
He called on the Rural Development and Agriculture Bank to provide loans to produce lemongrass for export.
