A guy I know in SR brought in some purebred Australorp eggs and hatched them, and bred from the adults.
He is just selling off the first gen roosters.
He had 13 and by yesterday had already sold 10 at $100 each!

wow i am in the wrong game.
he has 3 left so be quick

seriously there are people doing ok with farming and gardening.''

Potatoes are expensive and a couple of barang are doing ok growing them in mondulkiri.

Crunching the numbers on chickens, there is definitely a living to be made.

Good thing for rice growing khmer families to do.

They don't vaccinate, so suffer high mortality. the vaccine is cheap less than R2000, and just a drop in the eye. no injections.

Poultry has been super successful as a family scale enterprise to the point of a mania in ghana and nigeria.

Cambodia is so messed up and backward they don't even have micro irrigation.

Horticulture and husbandry are stone age.

Anyone who wants to come in and participate in food production may do very well.

I just met the woman who has the butterfly sanctuary on Koh Rong and she's raising a lot of interesting foreign breeds of chickens on Koh Rong and also in Sihanoukville. She's trying to breed some gorgeous silkies for color variations. I was very impressed with her collection!

I'm trying to decide, given your username, whether you're truly into chooks or a brilliant, benign troll! Either way, kudos.

The truth is somewhere in the middle!

Understood. You're truly into benign chooks. Same.

Geese, on the other hand, are rarely benign.

They don't call it "getting goosed" for nothing.
