:beer3:
time to get the Richer tourists heading there
Work is due to begin soon on the development of four Preah Sihanouk province beaches, according to a Facebook post by Land Management Minister Chea Sophara.

The post showed digital mock-ups of the planned improvements for Ochheuteal, Otres, Independence and Royal beaches, including an entrance archway supported by two 8-metre dolphin statues.

“Preah Sihanouk province’s beaches will be developed starting today with the participation of the people and donors,” Sophara said.

Meanwhile, seafront businesses who have long operated in the shadow of eviction notices say they are still in limbo.
BUT then again, it seems business as usual :plus1:
Provincial Governor Yun Min said yesterday that the authorities are searching for a solution for the vendors. He said he did not know when development work would begin or when orders to evict beachfront businesses would come.

Oh! How the money rolls in. What was the provincial governor doing up in China? Hint, it wasn't looking at the great wall. Crush the little guy and roll in the big Chinese backers and the on-line gambling scams. (sorry, those are already here.) Ream Park, the property of the People of Cambodia, Not! A new Chinese province.

There's not a whole hell of a lot they can do about Sihanoukville Pub Street as it's outside the 50m limit. That bit's also inside city limits, so it'll be Y Sokleng's call, rather than Yun Min. Someone did post a mock-up of what I guess is the square outside His Nibs' house on Facebook. I guess there are more of these pictures bouncing around. They are either stalling until the election is over or someone's going to get their bum spanked for not finishing it before the election. Nobody currently in charge wants a load of pissed-off evicted tenants going to the polls.

Not that I'm against the much-needed beautification of SVs beaches, (but)it's really not as funny if you don't see the pics in all their splendor. Extremely ambitious plans. From the Minister's Fb page:

Looks a bit too 'open', and 'clinical'....So much for tropical, lush vibes....
