Evil virus going around?

Post by jah steu »

Anyone experiencing this evil bug going around? It lasts about ten days and the symptoms are a constant headache, periodic fevers, loss of appetite, occasional vomiting and complete lack of energy. Plus sometimes runny nose and coughing. Nasty.
Several of my friends have had it in the last few weeks.

Yes, we both had that straight after we arrived. You can blame us if you like.

That was my first thought too Richard, but I deleted before posting as it would seem unlikely that several friends would have dengue at the same time. I had it too, it is a bastard to be sure.

As someone going through it now it is not dengue.

I have had dengue as this is a walk in the park compared to that.

Hangover?

Dengue Fever ranges in severity.

Easy/cheap blood test to confirm that.

I had Dengue, confirmed with a blood test in Bali, and I hardly knew I had it.

Got super tired Christmas night, went home and slept almost 24 hours.

Severe, strange headache, eyes really hurt and by head and vision seemed slushy.

That only lasted about a day.

Then I went out partying again.

Broke out with red hives on my arms first. Thought it might have been an allergic reaction to something I ate...

Still felt ok.

Got back to my guesthouse and they said, "Oh, it's Dengue! Stay in bed and drink lots of guava juice and water."

I said fuck that! I'm going to a doctor!
The hospital confirmed it was Dengue and said, "Stay in bed and drink lots of guava juice and water."

I also don't think coughing is a sign of Dengue.

When I lived in LakeSide seemed like everyone would come down with it sooner or later.

Even several tourist I kept in touch with got it as they were leaving, and either fell ill in another country, or when they got to their home country.

I've had dengue, RRV and mild malaria. This is not any of those, in my view. A short course of AB cracked it.

Aching joints, headaches, sleeping and fucked vision. No fever.

Lasts about 3 days. Just some bastard virus that must have a reason for existing, I spose.

To you CEO God-botherer types, what is the reason for that?
