What are the rules in regards to people mentioning their own businesses here? Do I have to be a sponsor? If somebody asks in a thread advice on where to stay on Don Det am I allowed to suggest my own business and provide a link? I have no intention of littering the forum with too much about my place but it has always somewhat bothered me when sites bar people from suggesting their own place if it seems to match the topic. For example I got warned on Thorntree for mentioning my place when it was what the OP was basically looking for and a good match. In the mean time somebody not even in Laos could incessantly tout for his buddies place because he didn't own it.

Is it okay to use my link in my sig or perhaps a pic in my avatar? Just trying to figure out what is considered acceptable.

Go for it! It sounds like you have thy right idea about it all.

We definitely don't want anyone spamming the board, but i think you get that.

We also want our members to be well informed of anything out there of interest, so we're glad to have you mention your business were appropriate.

And definitely feel free to use whatever avatar and signature you wish!
