Most shocking/weirdest/ stories from Tbong Khmum Province.

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. If you do move it how about a totally new thread like long term village stays by barangs or some title that has a little more quintessential pizzazz.

Anyone have a good story about barangs who stay in the wop-wops .

If you are a mod I most assuredly do not have a story about the "wop-wops" as you so condescendingly refer to them.

Ha! Start your own thread why don't you? I would love to here about people's rural experiences. Both positive and negative. Perhaps a thread for each? No, it would never work!

Haha, I had to look this term up.

What's condescending about it? Seems it's the same as when people say BFE (Bum-fucked Egypt), just meaning it's in the middle of nowhere.

To live in the boonies, as opposed to wop-wops, of another country is one of the most peculiar things anyone can choose to do. To make such a decision in a truly third-world nation like Cambodia is a mind-boggling moment for someone who comes from a culture which supplies endless starting advantages in life (and ongoing advantages).

An Australian would call it '' somewhere the other side of the black stump.'' which might also be a suitable term in Cambodia now all the forests have been cut down.

Hmmmmm, surely that's debatable.

I was kind of surprised to not find a pic of rural Cambodia next to the definitions.
