With Rainman back in Achilles mode Kem Sokha is de facto leader of the opposition yet again. Now KS has, up until now, been the one who made the confrontational statements and calls to action. One would have expected him to return to the Kingdom full of belligerence and spoiling for a fight, after being stripped of his title. However what we actually got was him calling for calm,and asking the CNRP freshies on facebook to be polite to the CPP. Now it is reported that his meeting with Sar Kheng didn't even address Sam Rainsy's predicament. So what game is dear Kem playing, is he tired of being in Rainsy's shadow, and happy to see him sidelined? It has been claimed he's merely keeping his powder dry for the next election, but that doesn't seem feasible with even the commune elections over a year distant.
So come on all you Cambodia watchers, why are Kem and the CNRP not manning the barricades?

What a mess. Kind of refreshing to have Rainsy out of the picture. I would hate to play chess with HE.

Answer to your question with a question: Who stands to gain from any political unrest at the moment ? At a guess, he who holds the power.

And also, do you think that any politicians from either side have a well thought-out political strategy in place ? Seems to be blow by blow; reaction rather than action; that's my impression anyway.

Yes I would have expected KS to react, but he has instead bitten his tongue and retreated, very unlike him. He has always been a fire starter not a fire fighter. I think you can be fairly sure that HE has a strategy in place, which is to ensure that come 2018 he is facing a disunited opposition.

And we are awaiting yours Samouth. Do you'll really believe that a man who can talk the talk, but when it comes to walking the walk invariably runs away is Prime Ministerial material? Should the CNRP go with Kem Sokha instead? When will the CNRP realise that boycotting the National Assembly merely means their voice isn't heard?
These and many other questions need to be considered and answered, by Khmers even more than ex pats.

the opposition is morally, intellectually and operationally bankrupt/

These and many other questions need to be considered and answered, by Khmers even more than ex pats.

For my political view, i don't really like any Cambodian politicians, however, i just want to give him a chance. i can't guarantee whether he will be a good prime minister as he had never been a prime minister and really got the chance to lead the country. Me and like of most other Cambodians are sick with the power is solely on one person hands. We really want to have a change in our country. We want to have justice in our law system and more. I think it is good for him to have not been jailed in Cambodia prison. I would rather him to be on run for any crimes that he was accused of while what he did just for the sake of the country. I agree with you that boycotting is not a good move as the ruling party can always do anything without the presence from the opposition lawmakers. Hopefully with the involvement of foreigner countries and institutions we will have a fair election.
