We just applied for Indian visa's and expect them back in a week or so...

If my partner, our son and I wish to travel to Ankor Wat or anywhere, can we do so without our passports and visa pages... and just go with the indian embassy receipts.

Any advice on this one please would be appreciated.

Otherwise is there any nice places to visit near by to Phenom Penh that are nature oriented, and family friendly...

Thank you

Do you need passport for travel and to book into new hotels.

You need id to book into a hotel, but they will generally accept a photo copy of your passport and visa

Meh, they're supposed to for sure.

As mentioned, do you have embassy receipt and scanned passport/visa page?

I'vE checked into many places, and half the time they don't even ask.

I also check in sometimes and they say to bring it later, and seem to forget.

I can't imagine a family of 3 being denied a room.

I don't bring my passport with me unless I am using it to board a plane o cross a border.

Some places ask, some don't. I usually show my driving license and say my passport is at a moto rental shop, if asked for id.

Maybe once in six years that wasn't acceptable and I produced my ipad with a picture of my passport and the receptionist took my ipad, placed it in the photocopier, and copied the ipad and passport pic for their records :dm:

Probably not as strict when it's just for short-time ?

You don't need documents to travel or buy tickets inside Cambodia - except if you take a plane. Not sure if copies are enough.Wouldn't think so.

I never travel in-country with my passport. At hotels they always ask for it, I always say I don't carry it and offer a photocopy of my passport/via or my KH driver's license. I've never had a problem with it, including just yesterday.
