The difference 25 years makes

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I can't believe the stuff I was using 15 years ago. A whole new world, especially considering mobile devices!

I've a circa 2001 Evesham Voyager 5000 laptop sitting in a box in Toul Kork. Massive 3gb hdd and 32mb ram - runs DSL very well, but needs a re-install of windows 98. Bloody good screen for the time.

Touchscreen being mainstream in the West world is still sci-fi to me.

Technology has been making strides by leaps and bounds in the last 80 years, only going to be more. But what I can't see is how, we've got them pretty small already and speeds are about max with current technology. I wonder what the next new innovation will be.

This was my first laptop 1989 I think. A mere seven and a half kilo with a 12 hour lead acid battery :D

This.

Batteries that actually last. I hope that's next.

A buddy of mine who has an iPhone recently got an Android device too.

He was shocked. The iPhone that he'd barely touched was almost dead, while the Android phone still had about half the juice left.

The kicker is that he'd barely even used the iPhone, but had been messing around the the Android all day.

They need to improve batteries before they take it any further.

I've actually come to have a love/hate relationship with mobile.

Gone back to the Desktop for work and been way more productive.

24" inch monitor and keyboard the size of my hands.

I only use my phone for messaging and talking on it, 99% of the time.
